How to Build a Plastic-Free Bath & Body Routine With Refills

Why Your Shower Is a Great Place to Start

The bathroom is one of the biggest sources of single-use plastic in the average home. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion — each of those bottles is typically used once and discarded. But it doesn't have to be that way. With a few simple swaps, your entire bath and body routine can become almost entirely plastic-free.

The Plastic-Free Bath Starter Swaps

Shampoo & Conditioner

Two of the easiest switches:

  • Shampoo bars — a single bar replaces 2–3 plastic bottles and lathers beautifully. Try the popular Dip Shampoo/Conditioner Bars.
  • Refillable bottles — if you prefer liquid, use a reusable pump bottle and refill from a bulk or concentrate source. Our  Rosemary Mint Vanilla Shampoo is a salon-quality product that foams well and cleans superbly.
  • Coconut Conditioner — our Coconut Conditioner is a customer favorite and pairs perfectly with any of our shampoo options.

Body Wash

Our Body Wash is formulated to be gentle, plant-based, and effective. Fill a reusable pump or squeeze bottle and keep a larger refill container under the sink — you'll rarely have to think about it again.

Lotion

Rich, nourishing, and zero-waste-friendly. Our Avocado Lotion is one of our top sellers for a reason — it's deeply moisturizing and comes in packaging you can refill or compost.

Deodorant

This one surprises people, but deodorant is very refillable-friendly. Little Seed Farm All-Natural Deodorant uses minimal packaging and works without the aluminum and chemicals found in conventional sticks.

Tips for a Low-Waste Shower

  • Keep a small reusable bottle in the shower and a larger refill container nearby — refill takes 30 seconds
  • Look for concentrates when possible: they use less water, less packaging, and last longer
  • Swap single-use razors for a safety razor with replaceable blades
  • Replace plastic loofahs with a natural sisal or cotton wash cloth

Don't Try to Do It All at Once

The most sustainable approach is to use what you have, then make the switch when something runs out. Start with your most-used product — shampoo or body wash are good first picks — and add one new swap every month or two.
